Graduate Endowment in Scotland

What is the “Graduate Endowment” and will I need to pay it?

University tuitition in Scotland is free and funded by the Students Awards Agency (SAAS). However, when a student graduated, they were asked to pay a one-off charge of £2,289. The income from endowment fees goes into bursaries for students from ‘non-traditional’ backgrounds and to help support future generations of students.

In 2008, this was scrapped after the SNP-led administration at Holyrood won significant support from students in last year’s elections, promising to wipe out student debt, reintroduce grants and end the graduate endowment.
