Lava and Ignite Edinburgh
One of Edinburgh’s largest venues, the Lava and Ignite contains five bars, three large rooms and huge dancing space! Formerly known as the Cavendish nightclub, Lava & Ignite closed its doors for refurbishment and re-branding.

Located a the top of Lothian Road in the Tollcross area, Lava and Ignite is easily accessible by walking off Princes Street or jumping in a taxi, the latter recommended for girls who don’t want to hurt their feet!
Lava & Ignite caters for a mix of students and non-students, with Friday’s being an over 21’s event, Saturday’s a mix and Sunday’s strictly students only. Lava & Ignite is well known for their Sunday’s as it is the busiest event in town, with generally over 1,000 students flocking to the club for a wild party.

The different rooms within the venue play an assortment of RnB, Chart, Cheese and 70’s music, so you can always move if you don’t like what you are hearing. The main area in the centre of the club has the largest dancefloor and the door stewards are quite strict in not allowing you to drink whilst having a boogie.
As the club is larger than most venues in the city, it plays host to big events, such as foam parties, end of term exam nights and bank holiday events.

As far as prices go, you can get some good deals, especially on a Sunday, but be prepared to wait for a long period of time. Generally groups of people find a table and make a large order to avoid vising the bar too often.
Despite their previous refurbishment, Lava & Ignite are having another refit but staying open this time. They advise on their website that this will take 12 weeks and disruption to clubbers will be kept to a minimum.
