Standing Order Edinburgh
On of Edinburgh’s largest and busiest pubs, the Standing Order is a music free venue offering lots of room and reasonably priced drinks. Sitting in the middle of George street in a former bank, the Standing Order opened its doors in 1997, with main access from George street and a back entrance on Rose street.

Owned by pub chain JP Whetherspoon, the Standing Order resides in a beautiful building, offering traditional pub food with a good pint for all. Open from 9am onwards, the pub offers breakfast, lunch and dinner to diners quickly cheaply in comparison to other venues on George street. The pub generally fills up afterwork when office workers make a pit stop before dashing home, and it gets really busy during the weekends as it’s an ideal starting point for a pub crawl. It can get crowded as party-goers fill the place looking for a few cheap rounds before hitting the clubs, hence there’s always a lack of seats unless you are ordering food.

With two entrances, the Standing Order has a trickle of customers coming and going throughout the evening, with many using it as a initial meeting point for a night out. Some complain about the “no music” policy whilst others enjoy it, especially during the week when people are looking for a quiet one or a good catch up without the disturbance of pumping speakers.

Definately one to put on the map if you are looking to enjoy an evening without hurting the wallet whilst being in the centre.
