Nightlife in Glasgow

Postby kev on Sun Jul 27, 2008 12:06 pm

Hello!

Going to be studying in Glasgow this term and wondering how decent the nightlife is?

Heard Edinburgh and Glasgow both offer a decent night out but Glasgow is creeping ahead...that true? Also, where's decent to go?

Both Edinburgh and Glasgow are both good nights out, Glasgow especially for food as it has some funky places to eat, like Waga-Mamma's!

Glasgow used to have a bit of a rep for being a violent and dodgy city to party in but I think that's clearing up now. Still, keep your eyes open as anything can happen but that's true in every city.

Edinburgh is gearing up for the Festival so nights out will get wilder, with places open till 5am!!! I certainly think both cities offer a wide variety of entertainment, it's personal opinion which is better!

As for venues, check out the site's guide to Glasgow Nightlife for some information.

Have fun ;)

Kal.

There are lots of good nightclubs in Glasgow - The city center has a few good ones, and there are loads up at Sauchiehall Street, the west end (where I lived as a student) is very good, especially when they have the west end festival, but the west end can be expensive, so watch out!

If you like rock music be try to check out Rockers bar - they have bands on nearly every night, also check out the Cathouse on Union Street, the Barrowlands is meant to be good too, as Is the Carling Academy
