Nightclubs in Aberdeen

Coupling tens of thousands of raucous students with oil rig workers on their months off is a recipe for disaster if there’s nothing to do. This is why Aberdeen has such a great nightlife with several bars, pubs, restaurants, live music venues and theatres and is an ideal place for a night out in Eastern Scotland.

Union Street is the place to be on a Saturday night in Aberdeen with a number of clubs and bars offering some of the finest whiskeys and ales along with every other drink under the sun. Just round the corner from there is Belmont Street with several of the finest bars and nightclubs. At the other end of Union Street is a junction and just round the corner from there is Justice Mill Lane; a street filled with clubs playing the most popular music and a few high-class lounge bars.

Union Street

Aberdeen’s nightlife Mecca; this street has a lot to offer in the way of bars, pubs and clubs. Stadia is the perfect place for football fans with a huge number of television screens, pub food and a wide selection of beers, ales and lagers. If it’s architectural style you’re looking for then head down to the converted church at the end of the street called ‘Soul’. Otherwise, check out any number of the clubs and bars down Union Street such as Espionage; a three-story nightclub, The Grill; a charismatic Scottish pub or ‘Bud Bar’.

Belmont Street

This area is home to the Aberdeen Farmer’s Market which arrives twice a month along with an array of shops, cafés and a cinema. During the day it’s a shoppers dream but at night the bars-cum-nightclubs come alive. These include Revolution and Exodus, which lies upstairs from the Triple Kirks pub. Drummond’s, Slain Castle and The Wild Boar are great places to visit. Additionally, there is an incredibly popular bar here called ‘Siberia’ which offers an amalgam of weird and wonderful vodka shots and cocktails.

Justice Mill Lane

Right round the corner from Union Street at the opposite end from Belmont Street lies Justice Mill Lane; an area where things get really interesting. The ‘Justice Mill’ is a bar with a drink to satisfy anyone’s thirst and leads onto Union Street. There is a Jumpin Jaks club along with others of its kind such as Charlie’s and Fever. If you’re of a calmer persuasion then give the Pearl Lounge, Tonik, Bugsie Browns and Paramount bars a try.

The Others In Between

There are some other great venues dotted around Aberdeen which aren’t located on Union Street, Justice Mill Lane or Belmont Street. They’re certainly not out of the way of the centre of the City and most of the best venues are located on one of the streets perpendicular to Union Street. Some of the top bars, clubs, pubs and venues include the Prince of Wales pub on St. Nicholas Lane, Sobar at St Nicholas Hall which is a large club and the Liquid nightclub on Bridge Place; always a popular venue for students. Also not to be missed is the University of Aberdeen student union; a great place for socialites with a penchant for pub events such as quizzes and live DJs.
