Declared as one of the safest cities in UK, Leeds has a fabulous nightlife that is second to none in the country. Since Leeds plays host to a very large student population, it is only natural for the city to have an abundance of clubs, bars, pub and restaurants to cater to its young residents. The city has plenty of choices available by way of music and budget to satisfy every whim of its clubbers and the night revellers. So whether you are in a mood for a cheesy night or serious dancing, Leeds has excellent nightspots to cater to its party mad crowd!

Since most of the action in Leeds happens around the city centre, there are hundreds of bars and plenty of night clubs located in this area. This makes it very convenient for the students as both the universities and the student accommodations are located in the same vicinity. Most of the clubs have stag and hen nights as well as theme and club nights to attract the huge student crowd.

Birdcage

Recently voted as the top nightclub in Leeds, the place is accessible easily due to its proximity to the train and the bus stations. This place is unique as it is a drag bar with a difference. All night long you will be entertained with cabaret shows and show girls in their glitzy dresses and feathers. The music here is mostly retro with 70’s -90’s songs being featured here. On Wednesday nights the admissions and drinks are only for 80p, with DJ Degsie and Ms Orry’s funny acts thrown in. Birdcage is fabulous for stag and hen nights.

Hifi Club

Located on the corner of an Oxfam in the city center, this is a small basement club that caters to an eclectic crowd. Many musicians and singers play their gigs here and the cosy atmosphere of the place is augmented by the inexpensive but tasty beers and a laid back friendly staff. The music here is mostly jazz and hip hop and their Saturday night comedy acts are famous through out Leeds. Since the place gets filled up quickly, arrive early to avoid being disappointed.

Bondi Beach Club

Located below the station this themed club is popular for its revolving dance floor and cheesy numbers. The staff struts around in bikinis and shorts making all sorts of cocktails at prices as low as £2. On Monday nights the place fills up like crazy because of the £10 entrance fee on that day that allows you drink free the whole night long. Highly popular amongst the young student crowd! Baja Beach club nearby offers a similar theme minus the revolving dance floor and the crowd can get a bit unruly here.

Wire

A popular student hub, wire plays excellent music and is reasonably priced. As it close to the bus station getting there isn’t a problem at all. On Thursday nights wire offers an entrance for just £2 if you arrive before 10 PM. The place fills up quickly and the dance floor is packed all night. The club plays latest releases and Inde music and the dance floor is packed all night, the drinks are made well and the atmosphere is so wonderful that you wouldn’t want to leave till morning.

Cockpit

The Cockpit is a pub with a difference; it is music venue where gigs are played by the likes of Amy Winehouse and Mystery jets. Located under the three Railway arches, the club is nothing special but the quality of the bands that play here makes Cockpit so popular in Leeds. It is reasonably priced and if you are looking for a fun and intimate place that is well located then Cockpit is the place to be in.

Clubs like Evolution, Majestic and Creation are well known for large floors and variety of music. Mint, Back to Basics and the warehouse have been around for a long time and have top DJs playing here. So if you are an insomniac or a young student looking for a night of non stop entertainment and plenty of drinks then Leeds has plenty to offer to all its discriminating pub hoppers.
